The Millhouse Project

UCAN’s mission is to improve the health and wellness of our community. Our farm is on land that once held enslaved people. Through our mission, we commemorate and honor the hardships, labor and lives of our ancestors. From our outreach programs and activities, food distributions, community garden and partnerships, UCAN aims to change and impact the lives of those within the Durham community and beyond.

Repurposing the Millhouse

Urban Community AgriNomics (UCAN) is raising funds for our Millhouse project. The Catawba Trail Farm holds rich history and historic tools and architecture.

Join Our Mission to
Improve The Future For all

We have begun the process of repurposing the Millhouse into a central facility equipped with a demonstration kitchen and more. With architectural drawings complete, we will ensure the renovation of this historic building will maintain its early 20th Century exterior. Amenities such as a meeting space, cool room and research-study areas will only add to the rich resources available at the Catawba Trail Farm!

Agriculture,
Health and Wellness!

With the renovation of the Millhouse, Urban Community AgriNomics will be able to better serve and offer more to the community!

  • On-site Cooking & Canning Classes
  • Demonstration Kitchen
  •  Community Gathering Space
  • Youth Mentoring Space
  • State of the Art Training Facility

How We Will Show Our Appreciation

Without your donation and support we would not be able to accomplish our goal and further our impact. We are beyond grateful for every single person who has given to UCAN’s ‘Giving Tuesday’ campaign! To show our appreciation we will be engraving the name of EACH donor into recycled wood once the Millhouse renovations are complete. No amount will go unacknowledged. Every donation plants a seeds and once nurtured and taken care of, grows and flourishes into something beautiful! Whether you are donating $0.99 or $100,00, your contribution will be forever engraved in the Millhouse at the Catawba Trail Farm!

Example/Inspiration

We invite you to visit the Catawba Trail Farm during our Saturday Volunteer Days (weather permitting), to see the progress and learn more about our organization. Once this project is complete, we will celebrate with our team, volunteers, community members and donors!

Campaign Goal:
